The Testimony Of
Danny Brewer
Before God grabbed me by my long hair and showed me truth, in a nutshell, I "believed" that ape had evolved to the level of Neanderthal man, and to explain away the missing link, aliens came here from another planet and cross breed with them or genetically altered them. The end result being the human race. Sounded good to me!!
The Lord started calling me on my 24th birthday in May 1993. I skipped work and was down to the river fishing when a man approached me and started talking about fishing with me. He proceeded to tell me that he had just quit his job to become a missionary. I don't remember all of our conversation, but he asked me if I thought about what happens when people die. I said no, not really. He witnessed to me for a bit and asked me if I would like to know Jesus as my personal savior. I said " I don't want to make a commitment like that. We talked for about an hour or so, then parted ways.
About 8 months
later (around January 1994) I was at a local bar shooting pool for money minding
my business, I bent over to shoot and accidentally bumped into a woman. I said
"I'm sorry, excuse me. so I bent over to continue to shoot my game when I herd
someone say "bump him again, bump him again. I stood up and said "bump me again
and I will be kickin' some butt!!" Well, It wasn't butt. I had the most horrible
mouth that you would have ever heard!! There stood a man who also had hair half
way down his back. Needless to say, we exchanged many words. Finally I backed
off, deciding that gambling was more important than fighting this guy. So we
went our separate ways.
Inside the next 9 months, I met another guy, with long blond hair. I gave a friend a ride home, and he was there installing carpet, we said hello to each other and that was it. A few weeks later, my wife (Angle), my son (Cameron) and I were at the video store standing in line to check out. Then Cameron brought this video to me with some monster on the front, and this guy with long blond hair says " I think he's trying to tell you that you look like a zombie". We talked for a minute about that and we went our ways.
Now we're in
November 1995, about 1 1/2 years from the start of this story. I was working at
a small shop in Owosso. One day a new guy started, a long hair. I went right
over to introduce myself "hello, I'm Danny Brewer". He responded "I'm Doug
Cole". Throughout the next few weeks we started talking about how each of us
believed in God, or for me...a lack of believing in God! I talked about aliens
and evolution. At this point in my life, there was no changing my mind about
God. But I thought surely I could change Doug's mind. Well, the Lord had other
plans!! Doug invited me to a Bible study and I accepted ( with my own evil plans
of making him and whoever else was there see things my way). When it came time
to go, I decided to stay home instead. Then just about the time I should be
there, Doug called. Hey man, you coming over? He asked. Yep. I said. I'm on my
way out the door (LIE, LIE, LIE). So I went to my first bible study. At the
bible study was Doug and his wife Theresa, Adam (long blond hair) and his wife
Dawn, Cam and Glenn. It didn't go as well as I had hoped (thank God). The next 3
weeks in a row Doug called to make sure I was coming over. On the 4th week I
invited the Lord to come into my life.
The next week
While we were all sitting there talking, Adam said "Have we met before?". We
thought for a minute and he said; at the video store. ya!! I said; and at Al's
house installing carpet!! WoW!!! Then Doug said ; "we have met before too Dan".
Remember about a year ago at the bar, you were shooting pool and bumped into a
woman, you apologized and someone said "bump him again, bump him again" and you
stood up and had words with this guy? I said "yes". Doug said; The girl you
bumped into was Theresa, my wife. and the guy you almost got into a fight with
was me. He continued; I recognized you when I hired into the shop, but was
embarrassed to say anything. Theresa and I got saved the next night at a Benny
Hinn crusade.
Thank you God for your awesome plan!! Thanks Doug for being persistent and bold. Thanks Adam for your wealth of knowledge. I would lay down my mortal life for any of you at any time!!
Love ya's.... Danny
As an update to my testimony:
I would like to start by saying that walking with the Lord does not mean that life is “peaches & cream”, but the Father gives us strength to overcome, He gives us hope and He gives us peace, if we will just commit ourselves to Him! My wife and I were ready to divorce, We had no hope, no love, no want for each other. About a month after I accepted Jesus as my savior, my wife seen a change in me and asked if she could come to a bible study with me, “SURE” I said. Then she received Christ as well. THEN there was hope!! Now there is commitment, to GOD first…Then to each other. It is because of our commitment to Him that we are committed to each other!! There are still “ups and downs” but we love one another. Don’t give up!!
